San Juan Outfitters Employment Page
San Juan Outfitters is an owner operated kayak, whale watch, and guide service in the San Juan Islands. We focus on high quality eco-tours, and excellent customer service. We are very close knit group of outdoor professionals, with a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. We share a few things in common however. Those things include a passion for being outdoors, educating others about our regional wildlife, a strong work ethic, and a desire to make a difference in people’s lives.
We currently employ only seasonal guides, naturalists, apprentice guides, and desk staff. However we continue to grow our business every year, with the hopes of providing year round employment to a group of dedicated outdoor professionals. It is our goal to become an industry leader in terms of employment, providing above average wages and benefits.
If you are interesting in learning more about seasonal jobs with San Juan Outfitters, please contact owner Brian Goodremont via email, at brian@sanjuanislandoutfitters.com. Please be prepared to send a professional resume and cover letter, along with references.
I recognize there are many guide companies out there, so why work with us? As operations manager of local whale watch and kayak operator for over 10 years, I understand all aspects of a company that contribute to its success. I recognize that my guides are an extension of my mission and philosophy, represent me every time they work with guests. Therefore, I take great care in recruiting, hiring, and training the best guides, naturalist, and outdoor professionals in the industry.
Why work for us?
- The average return rate for guides, naturalists, and support staff with our company is over 70%. In 2008 that number has climbed to over 80%. We have developed an excellent work place, where hard work and teamwork are prerequisite to our success. When everyone is on the same page, it makes for a great work environment
- Professional Kayak Training – We are one of the few companies that provide and require participation in professional training with our guides. It is our goal to build your confidence and skill level, so that you are prepared for all situations out on the water. In addition to professional training, we emphasize continued education and regularly have intra-company kayak training. New skills are perishable if not practiced and mastered, so we require all guides to continue working on newly learned skills.
