Captain Brian and Naturalist Tiffany just got back from their morning whale watch and they saw whales! The Sea Hawk departed Roche Harbor and traveled towards False Bay which is near the South Western end of San Juan Island. Captain Brian called to say they were in thick fog, but could hear the whales surfacing & breathing near the boat. The Sea Hawk shut down the engines and waited for whales to appear out of the fog. Polaris (J28) and her calf Star surfaced right near the boat and surprised everyone on board! The fog cleared a bit and Tiffany reported seeing mostly female members of Jpod.

Michael and Emily had really neat morning paddles. Michael and his guests saw four different species of sea stars: Purple ochre, false ochre, brittle, and sunflower sea stars. They also saw two river otters swimming near McCracken Point.

This morning, multi-day guides Katy and Aileen departed from our Friday Harbor location with guests on our special gourmet kayaking trip! This itinerary is partnered with Savor Seattle Food Tours and includes seven gourmet meals, local wines paired with every meal, and happy hours with cheese & chocolates, all prepared in the great outdoors. Katy and Aileen are specially trained for this trip. Rock on chicas!

Michael, Emily, and Chase are out on the water with separate half-day afternoon paddles. The Sea Hawk is back on the water for their afternoon trip. Be sure to check in later to get updates from our guides :).
