Overnight guide Nick just got back with his guests who were on a 3 day/2 night multi-day trip. The group departed from Friday Harbor early Friday morning, and paddled to Caution Point and Yellow Island before making their way to Jones Island. Nick and his guests agreed that the highlight of the trip was on their second night. The group hiked to the Turn Point Lighthouse on Stuart Island at dusk to see the sunset. The happened to be there at the exact right time and saw all of Jpod and Kpod swimming together, slowly heading north. What a fun experience :).

We just received an update from Captain Brian and Naturalist Kevin that the Sea Hawk is with the whales and it’s superpod at the Lime Kiln Lighthouse! J, K and L pod (that’s 80+ whales) are all swimming and milling together.

Guide Philip just got back from his afternoon trip and they saw whales from a kayak! His group was north of Half Moon Bay when the superpod slowly started making their way north. Guide Michael and his private tour also saw whales. Yaay whales!

Here’s an SJO staff favorite joke that we’ve been passing around:

What did the snail say while riding a turtle?

…WHEEEEEEEEEEEE!

:).
