Captain Brian and Naturalist Tiffany just got off the water from their trips today and they saw tons of killer whales! The highlight of the trip was when a big male killer whale started coming toward the Sea Hawk with his mouth open. His mouth was open so wide that Captain Brian could see his teeth and tongue! This whale surfaced right next to the boat and there was a HUGE salmon in his mouth! Brian thought it was either a Pink or Sockeye salmon. The whale gobbled it up really quickly as it swam through the water.

Full-day kayak guides Katy and Don saw whales on their day trips! Katy and her Boy Scout troop was at their lunch spot on Henry Island when the Js and Ks swam by. Don was north of Kellet Bluff when they were surprised by the whales. They rafted up in a kelp bed and watch Js and Ks (about 30 whales) travel north. A whale breached 50 yards from their kayaks. They said this breach was so big that they only saw a massive splash; the whole whale disappeared in the big splash it produced. Awesome!

Multi-day guide Philip just got home from a 3 day/ 2 night trip. Philip said by far, this was the best wildlife trip he’s ever had. On the second day, a superpod of killer whales passed right in front of them while they were doing a channel crossing. There were Harbor Porpoise and Dahl’s Porpoise swimming all around the boats and they saw over 100 harbor seals. Philip & his guests were so excited to experience all this great PNW wildlife :).
