Today was an one of those rare days where everything lined up perfectly! The weather was phenomenal, without a cloud in the sky, and the water was as calm as I have ever seen it in the Haro Strait. To add on to this perfect day on the water we also had....you guessed it, whales! Both J and L pod of our resident whales, or fish-eating whales, were out on the westside of San Juan Island. It looked to be a great show for both viewers on vessels, kayaks, and also land-based whale watching at Lime Kiln Whale Watching Park. The resident orcas were spread out along the westside, which allowed the plethora of boats out to all get great looks, but keep a respectful distance from the killer whales.

Lucky for us we got to hang out with blackberry, J-27, and some of his family members. We even got to hear surface vocalizations from our position on the boat. How cool is that! With the surface vocalizations we also got breaches happening on both sides of our boat and even a spy hop! All in all it was a great day to be on the water and I'm so happy our guests got to see the wild side of our whales.
