Today we left Roche Harbor on what can only be described as a perfect day on the water. We went down the West side of San Juan Island and found the whales at Andrews Bay. We first came across L87 (Onyx). Onyx usually travels with J2 (Granny) ever since his mom died in 2010. We then went past Lime Kiln Lighthouse with Onyx and came across the J16's. The family includes J16 (Slick) and her three offspring J26 (Mike), J36 (Alki) and J42 (Echo). They were traveling close together and are always a great orca family to watch on the water. After a bit of whale watching we headed back up the West side of San Juan Island and went around Henry Island. On the West side of Henry Island we saw some harbor seals and a known cormorant nesting colony. Not only did we have a great day to view wildlife we also had a great view of the beautiful land formations in the area. We got a wonderful look at the Olympic Mountains as well as Mt. Baker. Not only that, but we had a wonderful group of guests on board today that enjoyed every moment on the water!
