Joining our tours is one of my favorite things to-do! I am lucky to say I love my job both on and off the clock. Having spent the last two years traveling around the world, it’s a joy to advise and assist travelers to San Juan Island in my home state of Washington.
Here’s why I’m proud to be a staff member:

1. PASSIONATE STAFF
Yesterday, I watched our Lead Naturalist and Vessel Coordinator/Captain Sarah M. light-up about the Salish Sea. I had warm fuzzy feelings knowing moments like this matter. Enthusiasm is contagious and inspiring. Everyone from captains to reservationists is excited to be here. I LOVE knowing staff care about what they’re doing. Interactions with guests is personal and heartfelt. We’re happy to help with anything we can. This includes but isn’t limited to: transportation on the Washington State Ferry, places to stay on San Juan Island, things to do, & food and parking recommendations. Whether you want to buy an extra pair of sandals or find Popeye the harbor seal we’re here to help.

2. EXPERIENCED GUIDES
With staff returning year after year San Juan Safaris and San Juan Outfitters have the knowledge to get you where you want to go. We know and love this island. Captains are respectful and skilled at interacting with wildlife. Naturalists know the Salish Sea like the back of their hand. Reservationists live on island and are available daily to assist in any manner possible. Staff stay in touch every step of the way to communicate details and help with travel planning. You’ll find people who know what they’re talking about!

3. COMMITMENT TO CONSERVATION
Not only does San Juan Safaris and San Juan Outfitters make dreams come true, but we leave people more educated than when they arrived. Caring for our oceans help not only our wildlife, but every human on the planet. Each tour includes an educated Naturalist who speaks about the PNW ecosystem this wildlife call home. Did you know Killer Whales are the largest dolphin and can be found in every ocean of the world? Questions are appreciated! These whales & wildlife are part of our family. Learn how we identify, study, and protect these magnificent creatures. Every trip includes a $2 donation to our Conservation Grant Fund to promote and support orca protection through research, salmon restoration and conservation. Our business model revolves around sustainable practices.
So stop in and say hello, send us an email, or make a phone call. I would love to talk with you. Welcome to the SJS & SJO family!
