T46's and T46B's near Vancouver!

Erin | M/V Sea Hawk | Saturday, June 29, 2019 | 2:00 PM

What a breathtaking trip aboard the M/V Sea Hawk today! We left Roche Harbor and headed toward John's Pass. In John's Pass, we got a really great look at an adult bald eagle resting on top of a flag pole. It was looking quite regal. We then headed into Boundary Pass toward East Point on Saturna Island. On the way to East Point, we saw a couple of harbor seals pop their heads out of the water. We continued toward East...

Erin | M/V Sea Hawk | Friday, June 28, 2019 | 2:00 PM

Today's trip was absolutely amazing. We left Roche Harbor and the sun was shining brightly. There were some orca reports pretty far north, and we decided to go towards the reports to try to get some looks at them. We went around the east side of Spieden Island and headed towards Flattop Island. At Flattop Island, we got some great looks at harbor seals that  were hauled out on the rocks. We also saw three bald eagles...

Whales and Seals Galore!

M/V Sea Hawk | June 26th, 2019 | Naturalist Alexandria | 12PM

What a beautiful day we had on on the water today! As we were leaving the dock captain Sarah and myself were excited for what the day had in store.

We had already received reports of numerous biggest killer whale families in the area which is something that is always ideal and exciting when we’re leaving the dock!

We boarded M/V Seahawk, and headed out of Roche Harbor, passing by Pearl Island on our...

Bigg's Killer Whales Seen Near Turn Point!

Laura C. | 6-25-2019 | M/V Sea Hawk | 2:00pm

Today was a beautiful, calm and sunny day out on the water!  Captain Sarah took the helm of M/V Sea Hawk as we made our voyage north towards Turn Point.  As we emerged from Roche Harbor it only took us minutes to find our first species of the day, majestic bald eagles!  There were at least 5-6 eagles on treetops and soaring over a nearby island.  One junior passenger Gavin had an "eagle eye" and was our avian spotter for the...

Jordan | M/V Sea Hawk | 06/14/19 | 12:00

Today was wonderfully beautiful before we even started our trip! The sun was nice and warm and filled everyone with excitement right away. Starting out of Roche Harbor, Captain Sarah and I took our lovely group of people with us on our vessel, the Sea Hawk, and headed out to open waters.

Determined to find some wildlife, we headed deep into northern waters! We headed up past Spieden Island, past Stuart Island, and crossing into...

Today was a lovely day in Roche Harbor! The sun was shining, the birds were chirping and church bells rang in the distance. Our private charter excitedly jumped on the boat, ready for what the day had to offer!

Cruising out of the harbor, Captain Erick and I took the Sea Hawk towards Mosquito Pass out towards open water. Heading into the Haro Strait and turning down the west side of San Juan Island, we boated towards whispers of whales...

San Juan Island Killer Whale

Top 10 Animals to See in the Wild on and Around San Juan Island

The Salish Sea is considered one of the most productive waters in the world, comprising of over 172 named islands not including the many more smaller islands that appear with the fluxing tide. The Pacific Ocean filters in and around the islands every day with the tide and is heavily dependent on nutrients cycling through the water. Nutrients flow off the islands and the mainland and get stirred up in areas of upwelling off the sea floor which provides...

Orcas! 06/08/19

06/08/19
The sun shimmered brightly overhead as bald eagles chirped high up in far away pine trees. A beautiful start to the day up in Roche Harbor, Captain Erick and I headed out on the Sea Hawk. With just a few guests on board, it was nice to have the whole boat to ourselves!

We headed north across Spieden Channel and then up towards Flattop Island. This beautiful island is actually a National Wildlife Refuge! As we neared, we spotted at least 15 harbor seals laying...

Stitch the Humpback Swims in the Strait of Georgia!

Piper | Saturday, June 1, 2019 | M/V Sea Hawk | 12:00 PM

Happy June! Today was a bright and sunny day in the Salish Sea as we begin to really come into our summer season. We left the docks in Roche Harbor and pointed north past Spieden Island and into the narrow waters of John’s Pass which twists between Stuart Island and John’s Island. The small curvy channel opens into Boundary Pass which holds the border between the US and Canada! We motored across that border while...
