Happy Hump Day!

Jordan | M/V Sea Hawk | 07/24/19 | 2:00pm

What a beautiful day!

Captain Sarah and I booked it out of Roche Harbor and headed out to open seas. We boated up north around Spieden Island and towards Johns Island and Stuart Island!

Here we passed by a cute summer camp where they put up teepees along the shoreline. We passed by a recreation of a Native American long house as we passed through John’s Pass.

Then we crossed Boundary Pass into open waters and up towards Saturna...

Orcas and Wildlife Near Waldron Island!

Jordan | M/V Sea Hawk | 07/20/19 | 2:00pm

What a beautiful day out on the water!

Captain Sarah and I headed out of Roche Harbor and boated towards Speiden Island to start our journey.

This very special island has herds of exotic sheep and deer still roaming the island! They were imported here in the 70’s and still meander throughout the forests and grassy hills. It’s always very cool when we pass by and see foreign animals in Washington!

We continued up across the San...

False Bay Orcas! 06/14/19

Jordan | M/V Sea Hawk | 06/14/19 |

Today was a lovely day in Roche Harbor! The sun was shining, the birds were chirping and church bells rang in the distance. Our private charter excitedly jumped on the boat, ready for what the day had to offer!

Cruising out of the harbor, Captain Erick and I took the Sea Hawk towards Mosquito Pass out towards open water. Heading into the Haro Strait and turning down the west side of San Juan Island, we boated towards whispers of whales...

Guess Who's Back, Back Again - Steller's Sea Lions!

Guess who’s back, back again? It’s not Slim Shady, but it is the largest species of Sea Lions in the world!! In the San Juan Islands there is an over-wintering population of Steller’s Sea Lions, aka Northern Sea Lions, aka Eumetopias jubatus. These sea lions inhabit the northern Pacific Rim Coast from Northern California to Northern Japan and are a unique feature to our area. They went through a steep decline in the ‘80s and 90’s for unknown reasons, but now their...

Dahl's and Resident Whales on the Westside- Friday, September 19th, 2014

Started off as a potentially very wet whale watch, but that was quickly about to change. Soon after leaving the docks of Roche Harbor, the M/V Sea Hawk could see clear skies in front of her. This wasn't the only good news for passengers on board, but there were also reports of Southern Resident Killer whales on the westside of San Juan Island. As we motored past Lime Kiln Whale Watching Park we started to see puffs of air in the far distance. Upon closer inspection it was...

Beautiful Skies around Henry Island, 5hr, July 20th

The sun breaking through on a mostly overcast sky gave us the perfect temperature to kayak a great distance. We moved south through Mosquito pass, pausing for a moment through Garrison Bay and English camp, and eventually reached our lunch destination at Open Bay. It was a great paddle and although worn out a bit, everyone was in high spirits.
