M/V Sea Hawk departed Roche Harbor at 11:00am and headed toward Discovery Island in hopes to see J-pod. About half way down Haro Strait, Captain Chris heard a report of transient orcas off of Sidney Island. Guests were excited to hear about this report in hopes to see the transients hunting. Transient orcas hunt marine mammals, like Harbor Seals, Harbor Porpoises, Stellar Sea Lions, and even other whales.

By the time we caught up to these transient orcas, they were moving fast southward in Haro Strait. We had an identification on these transients as the T65As. This group has one adult female and three calfs, one of which was born in March. Guests were really excited to see this little calf swimming so close to the adult female. After getting a very good look at this group, we started to motor back home. Before heading into Roche Harbor, we went around Henry Island to see Bald Eagles by their nest. M/V Sea Hawk got back into the Harbor with sunny skies and happy guests.
